The binding agents are natural gums like halmaddi, a semi-liquid resin from the Ailanthus tree that gives Nag Champa its distinctive slightly sticky texture.

Satya does not use synthetic binders or chemical fragrance enhancers in their traditional Nag Champa line. This matters because cheaper incense brands use dipropylene glycol or other solvents as fragrance carriers, which produce that sharp, headache-inducing smell some people associate with incense.
